On the Back Road to Yellowstone

Just an hour from Yellowstone National Park, the Rainbow Valley Lodge is on the back road to Yellowstone National Park. Day trip to the Park for fishing, hiking, and sightseeing then return to Ennis and the Rainbow Valley Lodge in the evening. Spend the whole day, it stays light until 10 pm in the summer!

Stop along the way at the Earthquake Lake Visitor Center. Learn about the earthquake that occurred in 1959 that caused an enormous landslide, the damming of the Madison River that created Quake Lake and the re-channeling of the riverbed through the Madison River Canyon. 80 millions tons of rock and debris slide off the mountainside and into the narrow canyon. The site features an interpretive center with panoramic views of the quake site.
