Driving to Rainbow Valley Lodge
No matter which direction you’re traveling, you’ll enjoy one of Montana’s most scenic drives. Wide-open valleys, mountain ranges, blue-ribbon trout streams, and abundant wildlife make the journey part of the vacation.
The lodge is located directly on US Highway 287, just south of downtown Ennis, with easy access and plenty of parking for vehicles, trailers, and anglers traveling with boats.
From Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport
Driving Time: Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes
From the airport, follow I-90 west before connecting to US Highway 287 through Three Forks and Norris. Continue south through the beautiful Madison Valley until you reach Ennis.
As you travel through downtown Ennis, continue north on US Highway 287. Rainbow Valley Lodge will be on your right shortly after crossing the Madison River.
From West Yellowstone
Driving Time: Approximately 1 hour
Take US Highway 287 north through the scenic Madison River Canyon toward Ennis. The route follows Hebgen Lake, Quake Lake, and the Madison River before entering the Madison Valley.
As you approach Ennis, Rainbow Valley Lodge will be on your left before reaching downtown.
From Missoula
Driving Time: Approximately 3 hours
Follow Interstate 90 east to Cardwell, then take Montana Highway 359 to US Highway 287. Continue south through the Madison Valley toward Ennis.
After driving through downtown Ennis and crossing the Madison River, Rainbow Valley Lodge will be on your right after El Western.
From Helena, Montana
Driving Time: Approximately 2 hours
Travel south on I-15 before taking Montana Highway 69 toward Whitehall. Continue to US Highway 287 and follow it south into Ennis.
Drive through town, cross the Madison River, and you’ll find Rainbow Valley Lodge on the right.
From Idaho Falls
Driving Time: Approximately 3½ hours
Follow US Highway 20 toward West Yellowstone, then continue north on US Highway 287 through Yellowstone’s western gateway and into the Madison Valley.
Rainbow Valley Lodge will be on your left as you enter Ennis.
Flying to Southwest Montana
The closest commercial airport is Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, offering year-round service from major U.S. cities. Other nearby airports include Helena Regional Airport and Bert Mooney Airport in Butte. Private pilots can also use the nearby Ennis–Big Sky Airport.
